“Y tú, qué planes?”, Domestic Tourism Promotion Initiative , Peru

UNWTO Ulysses Award for Innovation on Public Policy and Governance

Winner: “Y tú, qué planes?”, Domestic Tourism Promotion Initiative, Peru

“Y tú qué planes?” is a domestic tourism promotion initiative seeking to nurture a true travel culture among Peruvians by progressively developing the habit of travelling and travel-planning. Through public-private collaboration, PROMPERÚ articulates supply and demand, offering competitive deals year-round on www.ytuqueplanes.com.

This campaign results from coordinated work involving small regional tourism businesses, as well as a change of perceptions in consumers. Domestic tourism is being put in value, gradually encouraging non-travellers to explore our beautiful country, showing them that “Peru has a plan for everybody”, from half-day excursions, to interregional travel. Deals are diverse, accessible, segmented and include non-traditional destinations, advancing towards sustainable tourism nationwide.

“Being a UNWTO Ulysses Awardee in the category of Innovation in Public Policy and Governance motivates us to keep promoting domestic tourism in Peru through strategies that include all regions of the country and their formal tourism entrepreneurs, building their capacities and commercialization skills, always maintaining our standards and service quality.”

Magali Silva Velarde-Álvarez
Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism
President of PROMPERU's Steering Council
